Go out for a walk

Sometimes, when you’ve worked too hard on a certain project, the brain becomes saturated and it’s absolutely useless to go on especially if the inspiration doesn’t come naturally. This may mean you’ve spent too much time on the project, or in front of a computer. Go out and take a walk. Your brain will thank you and you can go back to work more inspired than ever.

Change your work environment

Changing the work environment can also be an effective way to fight lacks of inspiration. Indeed, the work environment has a direct effect on concentration and creativity. So when your work is not going too well, try working from somewhere else. Being self-employed gives you the advantage of being able to work from virtually anywhere. Take this opportunity to visit a new coffee shop or rent a day at a co-working space to share your skills and inspiration with other freelancers!

20 minutes of craziness

This is an easy exercise that can help you fight the blank page syndrome! the goal of this exercise is to take a short 20 minutes to brainstorm and write down everything that comes to mind. No idea is wrong or too crazy. Get out of your comfort zone. Of course, not everything you write down in that 20 minutes can be used for your project, but it can give ideas you hadn’t originally thought of!

Move forward

Still looking for the best intro? Ignore it for a little and move on. by working on other parts of the project, you may find inspiration or the perfect first sentence or title you’ve been looking for! Try not to force ideas too much, just move on, and come back later. Sometimes, the best ideas come to you naturally when you’re not even thinking about it anymore.

Brainstorming exercises

This one is a classic. Just like the 20 minutes of craziness, write down words, create a mood board or make a heuristic map from all of your keywords. These fun exercises can help you get your creative momentum back!

Finally, avoid beating yourself up when you lack inspiration. Instead, use these tips and find ways to better yourself by getting out-of-the-ordinary ideas and maximizing your creativity!
